What should I be looking for in a DJ?
When you hire a DJ for your wedding or event, you need to first look for someone you can trust to make your event a priority. To do this, you have to hire a professional. Full time DJ's are much more likely to give you the time and effort you need to make your event perfect. You should always hire someone that is fully insured and always have a signed contract! Nothing is better than experience, but make sure the DJ you hire fits your style.
Aren't DJ's just glorified jukeboxes?
I can't blame people for thinking we have an easy job. It's a common misconception that we just get paid to party. The truth is that we are extremely lucky to have such a fun and exciting job, but the professionals among us put in a LOT of work behind the scenes that our customers never get to see. They only see the best 4-7 hours of our work (depending on the length of the event), but they miss the hours of setting up and taking down sound and lighting equipment, the hours organizing and editing music for each event and the hours making sure every detail is accounted for so your wedding or event goes off without a hitch. True professionals will also take the time to meet with you in person (at no extra charge) to make sure everything is planned and customized to fit your style, down to the last detail. So, while our customers may only see us perform for 5 tremendously fun hours, there are at least twice as many hours that go into making the event perfect.
Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?
We're certainly not your average wedding DJ service. We hear over and over again from our clients that their friends and family just couldn't stop raving about how much fun they had. Our key to success is using the right music to keep the energy level up and your guests on the dance floor. Our club mixing style lets us flow in and out of songs quickly so only the best or most memorable part of the song is played. On average we play 30 songs an hour which means we can play a wider range of songs to keep your guests entertained and wondering what's coming next.
How long have you been in business?
Dawson Entertainment Production, LLC was founded in 2007 by Jason Dawson (Dj JD). Although Jason has been DJing and performing at events professionally since 1999, 2007 was when the calling to become a full-time DJ was just too much to bare. Jason left his comfortable corporate job at Bose in Boston in late 2006 and 2 months later Dawson Entertainment was born. A lot has happened since then and it's been an incredibly fun and rewarding journey.
Are you insured?
Yes, we are fully covered! All of the best venues require it and it gives everyone piece of mind.
What do you wear?
Our normal attire is a suit and tie which include colors that compliment your theme. If you would like us to wear something more formal, such as a tuxedo, or less formal, like a hawaiian shirt, just let us know.
